Case Study Update (Sites 6, 7, 8)

I thought I’d give a quick update to another case study that I published back in November of 2021, so about 3 months ago. At the time I had just finished building 3 new niche sites and adding some content to each one. The intention was simply to seed these sites and move back to my bigger sites.

Link to previous case study: sites 6, 7, and 8

I put about 30 posts on 2 of the sites and then 60 on another one. There’s a total of 3 sites and I’m referring to them as sites 6, 7, and 8 simply because I tacked them onto the end of my 5 main sites.

Below is a quick breakdown of each site along with some metrics.

January 2022 metrics for sites 6, 7, 8

I haven’t added content to any of these sites in 3 months, traffic has been slowly increasing. None of the sites are monetized with ads yet.

#6

Rankings for site 6

I added the most articles to this site for no particular reason, but the type of content is pretty consistent across all three. It’s a nice mixture of the different types of helpful informational content. There are still quite a few articles that are not even in the top 100 yet, but I do see the number of posts that are slowly increasing.

I’m checking Google Search Console every so often to see if there are indexing issues, but past that I’m just letting it happen naturally. New sites are always treated poorly when it comes to indexing urls and I’m not going to waste much time on it. I expect over the coming months the remainder of the posts will be in the top 100, any that aren’t will be investigated individually.

#7

  • DR: 0
  • Domain age: 5.5 months
  • Content age: 3-5 months
  • Total articles: 34
  • Pageviews: 599
  • Amazon clicks: 32
  • Amazon earnings: $1.17
  • Ad earnings: n/a
site 7 rankings

This site has half the articles of site 7 and is already regularly getting more traffic. The above rankings look bad, but keep in mind SerpRobot checks Google Rankings only. The majority of the traffic coming to all 3 of these sites is from other search engines like Yahoo and Bing right now. We’re still in the sandbox so we’re just getting minimal traffic from Google.

Some of the keywords I went after on this site were both med/high volume and low competition. That means I could see a big traffic increase out of the blue if one or more of those articles starts ranking well. I’m not worried about any of these sites yet, this one included.

#8

  • DR: 0.2
  • Domain age: 4 months
  • Content age: 3-4 months
  • Total articles: 32
  • Pageviews: 202
  • Amazon clicks: 0
  • Amazon earnings: $0
  • Ad earnings: n/a
site 8 Google rankings 3 months old

This is the newest site and is getting the least amount of traffic currently. A couple of the articles are showing some positive signs and it does get daily organic traffic mostly from other search engines, just not much yet. It’s an informational approach to an obvious niche, this site is just too new.

Future plans

You can see there wasn’t anything big to update here really. This is a long-game and you have to be patient to see exciting results. Once I see some positive growth that’s worth reporting on for any of these sites, I’ll be sure to post an update.

I’m going to continue to let these 3 sites sit as-is. They are all showing at least some positive signs and they are all still very new. I’m hoping to see some growth spikes for all 3 sites in mid-2022 as they are all leaving the “Google sandbox” and beginning to mature.

At this point I’ll be able to make a better decision about future plans of each one. Ideally I’d like to isolate a frontrunners and pump enough content into it to get it onto Mediavine or Adthrive this year, if just 1 out of 3 of these sites is a success I’ll still be happy.

  • As they tend to, plans have changed for these sites. See the latest update here.
