New Blog Case Study

I love creating new sites, so last month just before leaving for vacation I decided to create a new one. I really did it on a whim and hadn’t been planning to make this site, but now that I have I really think it’s got potential. In this article I’m going to talk a little about this site and its current stats, then when I give an update in 6 months or so it’ll be nice to have this to refer back to.

Anyways, let’s have a look at a quick overview of this niche website.

Site overview

Domain age: 40 days
Posts: 40
Traffic: 0
Monetization: none
Earnings: $0

As you can see from above I made it to 40 posts in 40 days. I was honestly aiming for a bit higher than that in the first month, but I’m juggling too many other sites at the moment. If I have too many sites then why do I keep making new ones? Now that I’ve learned a few things about this business over the years I know that I’m creating a valuable asset with each one I build.

I plan to start buying and selling more sites in the future as well so the more inventory I have the better.

About the site

As with my other sites, I’m not going to reveal the niche on this one. I will say that the parent niche is very popular for bloggers and there’s a lot of competition. For this site I niched down to a smaller category and am doing the opposite of what I usually do, which is go broad. For this site I’m going to stay focused on a sub-category of this parent niche. I believe it will allow me to grow this site quicker by gaining topical authority more quickly.

I spent very little time setting this site up, I simply registered the domain and built a basic site in about an hour. I then immediately started outsourcing content and publishing to the site.

Over the course of the last month or so I’ve slowly made tweaks to the site to make it look at nice and I even got a logo from Fiverr. Now it looks like a nice respectable blog and I can just continue pumping content into it.

Type of content

This site so far has 39 informational articles and 2 affiliate articles. The ratio of affiliate to info content will probably remain like this. I will continue to sprinkle in just a few pieces of affiliate content, but it will be heavily outweighed by low competition info articles.

That said, I’m doing lots of listicles, question and answer posts, a few vs posts (comparisons), and then the best of affiliate roundups I mentioned.

Plans

At this point I’m not 100% sure on the plans for this site, but I’d say I’ll sell it after I build it up to a nice sized income. I’d like to make six figure exit on one of my sites some time next year, maybe it will be this one.. who knows.

Summary

This was just meant to be a quick overview of this new niche site I’m building. Once the site has aged a little with more content and is actually bringing in some traffic I’ll have something to report, like earnings!

In the first month though, I’m averaging about a post per day. We’ll see how long I can keep that pace up along with all of my other sites.
